The Music of Louis Armstrong & Premiere of Stamp Collector Suite

Johnny Summers and the Calgary Jazz Orchestra pay homage to one of the early creators of jazz and one of the most significant voices in the genre’s development through the ages (not to mention one of our heroes!) – Louis Armstrong.

“Stamp Collector” is an eight-movement suite commissioned by and featuring Darcy Stamp on violin, composed for violin and jazz orchestra by Johnny Summers. The work explores the range of the violin as a jazz solo instrument.
